The air quality in Delhi has reached a critical position formerly again. The Commission for Air Quality Management( CAQM), the Centre’santi-pollution panel, has assessed GRAP- 4 restrictions in the public capital and its touching areas from tonight.

The drastic step has been taken as Delhi’s air quality deteriorated further during the day, violating the 400 mark and dipping into the’ Severe’ order. This is a cause of major concern for the residers of Delhi and its neighboring areas.

What’s GRAP- 4?

GRAP( Graded Response Action Plan) is a set of guidelines developed by the Central Pollution Control Board to take necessary conduct in case of a shaft in air pollution situations.

GRAP has four stages- Stage 1( Moderate to Poor), Stage 2( veritably Poor), Stage 3( Severe) and Stage 4( Severe). Each stage has its own set of restrictions and measures that need to be enforced to control air pollution.

What are the restrictions under GRAP- 4?

Under GRAP- 4, strict restrictions have been assessed in Delhi and its neighboring areas. Some of the major measures include

1. Stopping entry of truck business into Delhi except for exchanges carrying essential goods.
2. Ban on applying of Delhi registered diesel- operated BS4 and below heavy goods vehicles in Delhi, except those carrying essential goods.
3. Ban on construction and obliteration conditioning.
4. mongrel mode of classes for scholars from fifth to ninth standard, and 11th standard.
5. Ban on direct public systems similar as roadways, roads, flyovers, etc.
6. obligatory classes for scholars in mongrel mode in certain areas of NCR.
7. Public, external and private services to work at 50 strength with the rest working from home.

Why were these restrictions necessary?

The perpetration of GRAP- 4 in Delhi and its neighboring areas was supposed necessary as the air quality indicator( AQI) had crossed the 400 mark, which falls under the’ Severe’ order.

This was a cause of concern as the AQI had reached similar intimidating situations due to largely inimical meteorological conditions and absolute calm wind conditions in the region.
